Online advertising revenue figures for 2007

The IAB / PwC online advertising spend figures for the UK for the whole of 2007 are out next week - rest assured I'll post the new figures on here as soon as I get hold of them. We'd predicted that online recruitment classifieds would be worth roughly £300 million for 2007, so it'll be interesting to see how close we are.

There's all sorts of reports around at the moment pointing towards a slow down in growth for paid search advertising. The figures out next week will only cover up to the end of 2007, so that might be too early to detect any decrease of growth within the UK, we might have to wait until the H1 figures for 2008 are out - probably about October this year.

I'll take bets on the IAB figure for online recruitment classifieds for 2007 and will reward the person who's closest to the actual number with a How 'e' are you? t-shirt (red or green, your choice!), please leave a comment against this post with your estimate.

i need a new tea towel so i am going to plump for £309m. i am sure the report will tell me this but what are they counting - all job board revenue plus SEM - and how is calculation made?

I'm going for £302 million. If I win can I have the red t-shirt. I have a green one which I wear with pride!

Hi Dom - they work the figures out by asking all the media owners to submit their actual revenue figures for each period, so the classified recruitment figure doesn't include search engine spend etc and only includes revenue from those media owners that are included - having said that it's pretty comprehensive and is great for year on year comparisons. Apparently they'll be some press about the overall figures tomorrow (that include display, search ads etc) but we probably won't get the classified recruitment until Thursday.

I'm going to be bullish and go for £315m.

Louise if I win you can have my t-shirt.

Tea towel indeed! How very rude!

did i say tea towel - i meant my sunday best for church
